Alanah & Andrew Wells - a garden inspired wedding celebration

-July 2, 2021-

Our special day took place at Alanah’s families farm near Acme, AB – nestled in Grandmas beautiful, lush gardens.

The vision for the day was exactly that - a romantic celebration with our favourite people at Grandmas.

We hauled over 1000 fresh blooms in the hottest week of life (40+ degree temps) for what was supposed to be a 7 hour drive down south– turned into over 10 hours!

We loaded up our camper with plans to stop every few hours to crank the A/C. It’s one thing when its 25 degree temps but 42 degrees takes it to a whole new level when keeping florals fresh and happy! Hydration, hydration and more hydration is always our top priority – from the moment we receive blooms into the store for processing all the way to the wedding day. We bagged all bloom buckets and arrangements to lock in the moisture while keeping a clean water source for all blooms and greens. Upon arrival to grandmas, we stored the blooms in the cold room.

Typically – we would install all florals morning of a wedding to ensure freshness (especially in extreme heat) BUT this wasn’t an option for us, so day before it was. Setting up a wedding in 38 degree weather, in a TENT with high humidity… hydration was not only key for flowers BUT for us too!

With help from our handy groomsmen, we installed a 24 ft floral cloud behind the head table and a chandelier over the dance floor filled with garden roses, ranunculus, larkspur, snapdragons, astible, more roses and greenery.

Allison was THE wedding planner. And sorry no, her planning services are not for hire LOL! But this day would not have been the same without her talent, organization and calm demeaner.

Ladies – if you’re on the fence about hiring a wedding planner – our advice “DO IT”! Your wedding day is one day in your life that you shouldn’t have to worry about a thing. It’s SO important for you - and to ensure your family and guests get to enjoy the day with you.

Not going to lie – we were a tad nervous that Allison would walk into the tent morning of to see some sad wilted blooms – this was not the case! Out of 600 roses, we might have lost a dozen if that – phew!

The morning of the wedding! Still hot and a balmy 33 degrees! The ceremony took place in a beautiful shaded orchard. Allison placed all ceremony florals and centrepieces the morning of.

Our tables were set on beautiful 8ft harvest tables with blush voile runners and rattan chargers from Special Event Rentals. We designed the centrepieces in 3ft long bread bowls to compliment - with blush taper candles from Yummi Candles for romantic candlelight. Our wedding favours were fresh Saskatoon and raspberry jam homemade with love by Michele Nester.

Allison coordinated all the details and arranged all of our amazing vendors to ensure that we had not a worry or a thing to do on the day of our wedding – we are so thankful for this! We got enjoy every moment!

Right as the ceremony was about to start – it clouded over! While it was still hot and humid, we were thankful for the clouds and doing a little rain dance for later in the evening. The farm was experiencing an unprecedent early season drought and rain was much needed for the crops and the animals.

As we took our last photos with Loree Photography, it then started to rain. As we entered the tent for our reception – the thunder rolled and the rain came pouring down - it could not have been more perfect!

We're so grateful for our family, friends, vendors and partners for being amazing - you all made our day so special and one to remember for life.
